Rodney’s Prowash Power Washing Service

Jan 15th, 2010 | Category: Apex, Home & Garden, Power Washing

Well, that time of the year has arrived and its time for spring cleaning. I never knew that the siding of a home accumulated so much dirt, so it was time to look for a good pressure washing service in Apex. rodney

I didn’t have to look far, just from regular conversations from neighbors, one name kept coming up over and over, Rodney’s Prowash.

I googled him and found that he is a local Apex resident, gave him a call and set up an appointment. He was very prompt and professional and his pricing reasonable.

When he was finished power washing, we chatted for a bit and I found out that he has been servicing the Apex area for the past six years. His portfolio extends from small homes to big mansions. He did right by me and I would recommend him to everyone. You can either google Rodney’s Prowash or call him at (919) 362-6992.

  1. ARTILLIERY FUNGUS
Around the foundation of the house home owners tend to place mulch around their shrubs and flowers. Mulch holds moisture which is good for the
plants but it also attracts a mushroom. These mushrooms shoots black pores into the air. These pores are attracted to light and can reach heights as high as 15 feet.
I have send these pores, which look like small black spots, attached to the siding of houses, windows and cars. If not caught in time they can not be removed by pressure washing.
You can remove them by scrapping with a razor blade or finger nail but a small resin circle is left behind. Studies have suggested in placing rock, brick chips or even pine straw instead
of mulch around the foundation. If mulch is used I suggest using single shred instead of triple shred which decays quicker drawing mushrooms sooner.

  2. What should I ask when Hiring a pressure washer
    1. The most common question is if they are insured.
    2. Number of years in the business can tell you alot about a company. This type of work draws alot of people with little experience resulting in damages to your investment
    3. Ask what GPM( gallons per minute) their pressure washer is. Anything under 4gpms may suggest the use of higher pressure, which you do not want. Higher pressure can damage the siding, window and door seals in return causing water to leak into your home.
4.. Be sure what you are paying for and what their services provide . A house wash for some companies is spraying bleach on the house, rinsing and leaving. Which is ok if that is what the home owner wants. Other pressure washing companies house wash involves cleaning the siding, scrubbing gutters to remove black run off from the roof.Pressure washing the brick steps to the front door. Rinsing windows during before and after the wash to prevent spots.Along with little details such as mail boxes. When comparing prices you also have to compare the srevice.

  3. Rodney is the real deal, he does a great job from start to finish, siding, windows gutters all clean. I certainly recommend him to anyone.

  4. We had Rodney powerwash our home a few months ago. We have lived in our home for 9 years and did not have it cleaned during that timespan. Obviously a lot of dirt and grime had accumulated on the gutters and siding around the house. I was amazed at how clean the gutters and siding looked after Rodney cleaned our home. Our home looked new again! He also explained to us what was causing the dark streaking on our shingles on the roof and what needed to be done to remove the fungus. Not only does Rodney do an outstanding job of cleaning your home he also takes the time to explain what was growing on the siding and how he removed the problem. HIs customer service and professionalism is unparalled. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs their siding, gutters, decks or roof cleaned.

  5. HOW TO STAIN MY DECK
1.Whether your deck has a stain on it or not the wood will need to be pressure washed. This will remove any dirt or aging ( grey ) out of the wood if the deck has never been stained. If the deck has been stained before it may require having the stain removed before re-staining. ( details below )
    2. Once the wood has dried for at least 3-4 days after pressure washing it is ready for staining. Picking a stain is important. I suggest staying with a stain that is oil based. The reason being is this type of stain is user friendly and easy to maintain when its time to restain.
    3. I prefer to stay away from stains that have silicon or acrylic in them. These stains can show run marks if not evenly applied. They tend to chip and flake like paint after a few years instead of wearing thin like oil stains. Also when it is time to restain after a couple of years the ones with silicon and acrylic do not take a second coat very well. The silicon that beads the water will also bead the stain not allowing it to soak into the wood evenly.
    4. I have not seen a stain that last over two years. It depends on how much sun your deck sees vs being in the shade. The darker shades of stain tend to last a litle longer.
5.Not staining your deck will speed up the aging process of the wood. Causing the wood to crack, splinter, warp and even rot.
