Downtown Storefront For Sale
Apex realtor Kimberly Sands sent out a tweet yesterday about 123 N. Salem Street in Apex. It’s for sale.
Although the property is far from the most beautiful space downtown, I think it has a great location. I’m not who will finally end up in the space, but I hope it’s someone that will spend a little bit to spruce it up.
It got me thinking about what type of business would you like to see go in there? Since the space is only listed at 5,500 square feet, it can’t support anything too big, but there’s plenty of room for someone to start a business that can become vital to the downtown community.
So what do you hope goes into that space?

The downtown area of Apex looks pretty nice, some parts of it look upscale as opposed to others. This building in particular seems to be very old and not in the best condition. Who ever does get it, I hope they make an investment into making it as appealing as some of the other properties in the area. As for what I would like to see come in that spot, a nice themed restaurant. That area is pretty good and it will compliment downtown Apex.

I pass by this building all the time when I am strolling downtown, it is a very old building, maybe 100+ years. To me, Downtown Apex is very desirable area but I am not sure what exactly you can do with this building, if there are city codes and stuff to follow. Another drawback is the parking situation there, there is a few spots in the front of the building but you know how fast that fills up. I can see the downtown area being built up and as for what kind of business to go there….Hmmm, there are no grocery stores there.

Hey Stacey,
April 15th, 2009 at 10:24 amI don’t think a grocery story would work in that space at all, mostly for the reasons you just mentioned.
I agree that parking is tight, but if your willing to walk a block, there’s plenty of free parking nearby.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing a barber shop go in there.

I am a crafter so what about hobbies or a yarn shop to bring locals/tourists in, or maybe a wifi cafe? I know folks are looking for jobs and can go to the coffee houses around town but somewhere to sit and meet people are always nice additions.
